Welcome to Marnell Bowling Club website.
In 1988 De La Rue Social Club decided to start a bowling club which was subsequently opened to members of the general public. With the steady growth of the club and only a Pack a Jack cabin for storage it was soon realised that the available facilities were not adequate enough to entertain the away teams, a new clubhouse was needed.
At this point it was agreed that the club would become financially independent and in 1993 the De La Rue name and logo was replaced with the “Marnell Bowling Club” named after a local beauty spot known as “Marnell Dell”. Subsequently in 1996 the new clubhouse was built and officially opened by the Mayor of Basingstoke, Councillor L.T Garland J.P. The new clubhouse is able to accommodate six full rinks of players with excellent facilities.
Today Marnell Bowling Club thrives, with games being played all week throughout the summer, with BBQ’s, Social Events, fun days and evening events to suit everyone.
We at Marnell are always looking for new members to join our club, with friendly people and excellent coaching Marnell looks to grow so if you fancy trying your hand at bowls why not pop down on a Tuesday evening and have a go.
As part of the Local Authorities access scheme Members of the Public are permitted to play Bowls on two of the six rinks at any time the Club is open. They must provide all their own equipment and wear appropriate footwear.
